Chicken and Waffle Bites is the ultimate fancy app for sweet, salty, spicy combo groupies with busy lifestyles. Delish and prepped using shortcuts no one will ever guess!
The idea behind Chicken and Waffle Bites came from one my best college girlfriends.
I am so super lucky to be able to see my college girlfriends a few times a year. Bachelorette parties, weddings, baby showers and reunions – we always know how to plan, pick up just like old times and, in true UD fashion, party. And, of course, it usually involves apps.
I was chatting about entertaining with my New York bestie who is a successful sales executive in the fashion industry. For someone that consistently looks fabulous, is traveling for the majority of the year and still has time for her friends, cooking isn’t always #1. However, she described this amazing spread that she put out for her hubby’s bday and I was floored to hear that chicken & waffles was on the menu. Who has the time to make waffles and fried chicken? Do you even own a waffle maker? How do you time it perfectly when the champagne bottles still need to be put on ice? Well, she has a shortcut secret that I would like to share with you (you’re welcome. Actually, you can thank Kristen!).
Chicken and Waffle Bites can be made so quickly, you can focus on the toppings (which is the most important part, right?).
Once I discovered that Chicken and Waffle Bites are perfect for busy hostesses, I knew a twist was in order.
Chicken and Waffle Bites come with two toppings:
- Topped with honey. Have you been to River Roast (E and my wedding reception is there!)? My inspiration was their amazing Golden Gobbets that are addictive as hell; small, chunky fried chicken minis served with raw honey.
- Topped with sriracha. I have my future brother-in-law to thank for this idea. Why pick sweet with salty, when you can deliver an unexpected spicy and salty? Especially if it is sriracha, my fave. Thanks, Clay!
The Jolly hostess twist this week presents two versions of the traditional Chicken and Waffles in bite form. Perfect for a brunch party (#girlswhobrunch), cocktail party hors d’oeuvres or kids’ dinner – for real, E and I had them last week! Either way, the sweet, salty, spicy combo will balance perfectly and will not leave you in the kitchen for hours. Win!
Thanks so much to my loves for the ideas for today’s post. It was a group effort and I always appreciate the inspiration!
